Fluoroplastic sealing tape is an unsintered film of Ф-4Д, a fine-dispersion form of polytetrafluoroethylene. The tape is intended for sealing of threaded couplings of pipelines made of any material which can be used in the temperature range from minus 60 to plus 200 °С and at fluid pressures up to 9.8 MPa (100 kgf/cm2). It is allowable to use the tape on valves operating at the pressure of 41.2 MPa (412 kgf/cm2). Systems containing concentrated or dilute acid or alkali solutions, systems using general industrial media and systems utilizing strong oxidizers can be sealed with fluoroplastic sealing tape. Three grades of fluoroplastic sealing tape intended for various applications are produced (see the table). Grade 1 - intended for sealing of systems with general industrial media and systems with strong aggressive media (concentrated or dilute acid or alkali solutions); contains lubricant – 17 – 20% of medical paraffin (GOST 3164-78).

Grade 2 – intended for sealing of systems utilizing oxygen and other strong oxidizers; does not contain lubricant.

Grade 3 – intended for sealing of systems with general industrial media and systems with strong aggressive media (concentrated or dilute acid or alkali solutions); it is made as edge portions of grade 1 and grade 2 fluoroplastic sealing tapes and СКЛ film produced according to technical specification 301-05-49.
